Our project began in 2006 with the donation of our Boeing C-22B. This Boeing, which began it's life as a Boeing 727-35, was delivered to National Airlines in 1965 and was affectionally named "JEAN". During the merger of Pan Am and National Airlines in the Early 1980's the aircraft was transferred to Pan Am and renamed "The Ringleader", which it carries today. In 1993 Pan Am sold our aircraft to Boeing Military in Wichita Kansas. At that time our aircraft was de-registered by Boeing Military and converted from a civilian airliner to a Military VIP Transport for the District of Columbia Air National Guard. About the time it was put under Air Force contract to Boeing it had it's military serial and contract number was issued and our aircraft became 83-4615.
Our project is to restore the Boeing C-22B (Ringleader) back to it's former military configuration which would be VIP seating section in the first class cabin with a dual galley on the right and left side of the aircraft. The coach section would then become a flying museum. In this section of our aircraft would be display cabinets set up to display historical information on the history and heritage of the Army National Guard which begin in 1636 and is over 370 years old in service. The Army National Guard is the first fighting force dating back to the revolutionary war.
There would be a section of our display dedicated to the history and heritage of the of the Air National Guard which begin with its official birth on 18 September 1947. This section would display history and heritage facts and photos along with some possible historical items on the History and Heritage of the Air National Guard.
The other section of our display would be dedicated to the history and heritage of the District of Columbia Air National Guard, the 113th Fighter Wing and the 201st Airlift Squadron the home of the C-22B.
Finally there will be a part of our display dedicated to aircraft, with items of history which will include old photos and other historical documents.
